  • Guess and check lol. Buy the smallest pack of a few different kind and see which works best for your baby. When my son was born I loved the Pampers Newborn but as soon as he went up to size 1 Huggies worked better. I can't stand Pampers anymore, but they worked best for him as a newborn. It all depends on which diaper best fits your baby's size and shape.

  • Well usually you would need newborn diapers and honestly the brand is up to you. I will be going with pampers. When you buy the diapers buy a small pack to make sure. Or you could wait and see what size the hospital gives you and they should give you enough for a night or so. Then you could go out and buy some then.

  • I swear by Pamper Swaddlers. I did a "just for fun" post about diapers earlier today, check out some of the responses. Every baby is different though in how they react to material so you might have to try a few.

  • Use the ones in the hospital, and snag the rest of the pack when you leave. If you like the ones they had, then use more of them. That's what we did! Have you had your baby shower yet? People tend to buy you diapers, so you may just get some then.
We ended up going with cloth diapers, but we still use disposables at night. We use the Costco ones. If you find that you like Huggies Gentle Care, they're nearly identical.
    Good luck!

  • We went thru the new born size really fast we had like 4 packs and then it was on to size one, with both our girls, I loved Pampers Swaddlers becuase they are soft and are just tight enough. We used them till they didn't have anymore then to Huggies with my older daughter and to Pampers crusers with the younger one ( the younger has no butt so they fit better and they smell like baby powder) Huggies and pampers are about the same price here, also for us the Target brand diapers work well but not the Parents Choice from Walmart. ASK FOR DIAPERS AND WIPES FOR YOUR BABY SHOWER!!!! You go thru them fast and they cost.

  • well it is wise to start buying diapers now because after the baby comes you will spend a lot of money on them... at least buy lots of wipes so it doesnt get so expensive after.

I used pampers with my first child and never thought about using any other brand for my second. I got one pack of newborns (that I know I might or might not use it) THEN everytime I go to the grocery store I buy one pack of diapers and one of wipes. I got 3 packs of number one diapers and 2 packs of number 2 diapers.
now that I think about it I also used Luvs for a while and I did like it... I also tried the target brand and I liked it as well.

I hated Huggies!!!!!! never worked for me and always licked!

  • my son was born 10 lbs 0 oz's..we used the newborn diapers for the first few weeks..until he needed size 2, then we sold the rest of our newbie diapers on kijiji.ca...you def should start buying NOW stock up..it was great to have them all ready for the baby's arrival...some babies come early, and you don't wanna be rushing out to get diapers! There's tons of diff brands that make newborn..I personally went with the ones with the cut out for the cord..pampers!

  • I loved the pampers diapers for all 3 of my kids. It would be wise to get 1 pkg of diapers now, and then after baby is born stock up on the size you will need. With my 2nd one he was 3wk early and weighed in at 9-lb, 10-oz-- he completely skipped the newborn diapers and went right to size 1. We had been given alot of newborn diapers at a baby shower and then we could not use them cause they were too small. My 3rd the doctor said would be a "10-pounder" so we stocked up on the bigger size diapers, well he turned out to be the smallest of the lot at "8-lb, 2-oz" and my husband had to run out and get smaller diapers.

  • We bought small packs of Pampers & Huggies in Newborn and size 1 the last couple months before the baby was born. It's trial & error really. I really liked the Pampers for the first couple of months...then moved to Huggies. As they got bigger I moved to Luvs and some store brands b/c of price and the quality really wasn't bad.
