Is it true that a woman's babies get bigger with each pregnancy?

Ok, i have 2 kids now and my first was 9lbs 9oz. My second was 9lbs 14oz. But is this just a coincidence, a wife's tale or should i really expect a bigger one this time? And they weren't really fat, they were chubby, and almost 2 feet long.

  • I thought that after my first two LOL.
    #1 was 7lbs 3oz
    #2 was 8lbs 10oz
THEN number 3 came along and shattered that "myth"...
    #3 was 7lbs 15oz

He was inbetween both my other boys in every way LOL.

  • My husband's grandmother had 5 kids. The first weighed 9 lbs, the second 10 lbs., the thrid 11 lbs, the fourth 12 lbs. and the fifth weighed 13 lbs. Then again my mom had three kids and we all stayed right around the same birth weight. I guess it depends on the person and genetics. By the way, my husband failed to mention the big babies in his family and our son weighed nearly 12 lbs when he was born. I think he is going to be an only child.

  • My first was 8 lbs 8 oz, the second 7 lbs, the third 7 lbs 12 oz and the last two were 5 lbs 6 oz and 5 lbs 8 oz.. Every pregnancy is different, you are dealing with different genentics, different environmental factors, some pregnancies make you sick and you don't want to eat and some pregnancies all you want to do is eat.

  • I only have the one, so I can't speak from my own experience, BUT...

My older brother was 12 pounds 9 ounces and I was 9 pounds 15 ounces.

So definitely not the case for my mom.
