  • Yes. Because ultimately physique changes and sex becomes routine. Whatever is residual after that usually involves emotions.

  • Uhm I think so. Usually they start off emotionally and move into the physical. I think they are more damaging because the person is emotionally invested in someone else and might not be coming to you as they once did. You also lose the emotional support and love from that person you once may have had. People having emotional affairs are also more likely to leave their relationship to be with the other person because of that emotional investment.
Physical cheating is just physical. Anyone can have sex.

  • I think both are devestating.Phys.ones for obvious reasons but emotional ones more so because when you take that kind of intimacy away from your partner and give it to another, that other person runs like a thread thru every part of your relationship forever. It can never be forgotten and imo truly forgiven. You just learn to live w/it,if you stay...or you leave.

  • I think emotional affairs are worse. When you express your feelings, hopes, dreams, etc. to someone you "connect" with that person on a deeper level than just the "act" of sex. Sex is a physical expression, and when you don't have an emotional connection with your partner, it's easy to distance yourself.

  • The thing about emotional affairs is that. Most people think "well he/she didn't cheat on me" (have sex with another person). they don't know if that is a reason to be mad or leave the person.

  • I think that the emotional affairs are worse b/c it would be easier for me to get over my DH telling me that he had sex with some random bimbo and it meant nothing and would never happen again than it would be for me to get over hearing my husband tell another woman that he loves her.

  • I'm with the latest anon.. both suck and sound stupid and are not good idea's.

I would think though that if you're having an emotional affair then you've got more than emotional problems, you've got trust issues for not talking to your partner about whatever emotional struggle you're going through. Whereas a physical attraction with a person that led to an affair could be spontaneous and unplanned... however in both situations you've always got an "out" and a way of calling, or talking to your spouse before it happens.... so both would be just as devastating to your spouse and as the anon said best... suck.
