Did anyone work up until the day she had the baby?

I'm 31 wks. and plan on working up until labor so I can use all my leave once the baby is here. If you did this, how did you know when to call in? Did you actually go into labor at work?

  • LOL I didn't have to call in... my water broke at work, LOL! They knew I wasn't coming back the next day. :)

  • I worked with my best friend with her in laws and I was suppose to be at work at 8 am. When I still wasn't there at 8:30 she came by my house to make sure I was okay. My water had broke about 5 minutes before and I was getting my stuff to go to the hospital. I was very glad she was there!

  • My first one I had to be induced, so I knew for sure that I wouldn't be at work. With my second one I went into labor on Sunday, my contractions started early in the afternoon and by early evening I was positive it was the real thing, so I had plenty of time to let everyone know that I was heading to the hospital.

  • With all four of my children, I worked right up to the last minute. No need to sit around at home wasting vacation time. When I did deliver, my husband just called that day and told them the good news.

  • I went into labor at work! I was a mgr. of a retail store and had to wait for the asst. mgr. to come in at 1 p.m. and it was like 11 am! I couldn't get in touch with her for her to come in early. I drove myself home (stopped to get gas on the way) and figured I had plenty of time! When I got home about an hour later, the labor pains were getting REALLY bad. Went home and waited for someone to drive me to the hospital. My mom finally got there and by the time we got to the hospital, I had my son within 15 minutes!

  • I worked until i had my son. My plan was to wait until contractions actually started, usually light contractions start way before you actually go into labor. But my son was stubborn and i ended up being induced.

  • I had to be induced. I went to work, went to a Dr.'s appt (I was a week late), and they wanted me to go in that night. I left work, packed a bag and stopped for fast food, and was in the hospital. They induced me the next day. I went back to work about 5 weeks later. I still bring my son to work today!

  • I called my boss at 5 am and told them I was going to the hospital to get checked and may not be in. I text her at 6 am and told her I was staying.
