  • Yes. Its called an abortifactent. (Sp) I havent found any cases of born with birth defects but it is true that you could miscarry. Usually its before you even find out that you are pregnant. You can also have a lot of serious complications with that type of birth control. My dr told me not to get on it unless I was kinda thru having kids just in case. It could happen that a baby could live thru it but Im not sure on that and it would make sense that it could have birth defects if it did live thru it.

  • Yes, you could get pregnant while on ANY birth control, nothing is 100% effective, every birth control has a fail rate. As far as complications, I personally haven't had any while on the Mirena but I did have huge issues with the Depo shot and other pills. I only have one child right now but want more in the future. This birth control sounds perfect because you can start trying to conceive as soon as it is removed. I know of three people myself that have gotten pregnant within three months of having their IUDs removed. Birth controls work differently for different women, do your homework before chosing yours.

  • i'm sure someone COULD get pregnant on mirena, as with all forms of BC it's not 100%. It's very unlikely thogh.

  • There isn't a birth control in existence that is %100 except abstinence. So yes, there is a chance you could get pregnant.

  • As others said, no birth control is 100% effective. Even though it is very unlikely, it is possible. And yes, if you get pregnant while on Mirena, there is a chance that you will miscarry or conceive a child with a birth defect. That's why you stop taking BC when you know you're pregnant, to avoid that. I honestly would not worry -that- much about it though. They are very low odds.
