Does your daughter hate having her hair done?

I always wanted a girl and one of the perks was that I'd get to do her hair. After having 2 boys, I finally got my girl and now she hates it when I do her hair. She is 2 1/2 and only lets me comb it after a bath. She refuses to let me put pony tails, pig tails, barrettes, or headbands in. Her hair is ALWAYS in her face.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get her to let me put her hair back? If I try to just do it and make her hold still she rips it right back out, lol.

  • My youngest is almost 4 and has hair down to her butt so I feel your pain. She went through a phase where she didnt want anything in her hair. Now she cant get enough of the hair combing and primping. So maybe your dd will be the same? But I do have issues with brushing her hair in the mornings. She hates it. She also hates it after bathtime. She just has SO MUCH hair she gets frustrated and hates tangles.

  • My 7 and 8 year olds hate getting theirs done. For the 7 year old we wet her hair in the morning and then spray no more tangles. She brushes it first, then I go over it to get the last of the tangles out. She alternates phases. One week she wants it pulled back everyday. The next she wants it down. We just kind of go with it and make sure her bangs are trimmed when she wants it down.
The 8 year old does her own hair now. She'll brush it and then pull it back. Every sunday I straighten her hair to make it easier for her to brush for the next couple days.

  • LOL!! My little one's hair is very thin but curly so it tangles really easily. I buy detangler and spray it on before combing through it and it helps but maybe that's the reason she hates it so much? It's so frustrating because when we go to the store she looks all nappy headed, lol.

I even cut her bangs short a few times to see if it helped in keeping her hair off her face but ever since she was born she had that hair that fell forward on her head. I'm trying to train it to go to the side, ugh!

  • My daughter is too young for me to do her hair (even though she has SO much of it, good lord). But my five year old cousin won't let anyone touch her hair. It has a gorgeous wavy curl to it, with some ringlets here and there, but it tangles so easily and she hates having anyone touch it with a comb or brush. Now that she's old enough, she's very vocal about it. I asked her why she hates having her hair brushed, and she cried "CUZ IT HURTS!" Ahahaha.

  • I have 2 girls ages 3 and 5 years. When my five year old was a toddler she let me do anything to her hair, now she wants to do it herself and put in clips and headbands and it looks radiculous. My three year old doesn't mind it, but she'll take it out an hour or so later when I'm not looking.

  • My DD is 3 and dosen't like having her hair brushed because of tangles. We use spray and I'll grab a strand of her hair and twist it to brush out the tangles at the bottom. It dosen't pull as much on the scalp when it's twisted. She dosen't like to have things put in it much now because she want's to wear it long. She is very much a princess and wants to have long hair. She has some curls and now a layer cut because it's easier to brush. I rerely get to do pony tails, baretts or anything anymore. I do have a 9 month old baby with an enourmour amount of hair. She's had 2 hair cuts and it's still to her shoulders. I get to put pony tails in her hair!

  • IDK, I never really went through this. I've been braiding my girls hair long or have had it done enough that they're used to it. But it's when I put the beads in that they don't like it because it's more time consuming. Sorry I can't help.

  • Just get her a cut where it will be out of her face. I have three girls and none of them really like their hair done. Good luck.
