  • Jan 31st is the deadline, I think it's the same for every state, but that's the last day they can give it to you

  • Yes, they're due the last day of January, and a lot of companies take every last day they have to do them. My friends and I have a "tax party" where I file for everyone and in exchange they help me out with the kids and the house while I'm doing it...and of course there is a little wine...lol. Out of the probably 5 ladies I do it for, only one has her w-2 so far. As sick as it is, I actually like doing it!!! lol

  • If you receive them in your paycheck or in hand, January 31st. If they are mailed they have to be postmarked by January 31st. I will have mine in my next check which is the 23rd. My husband got his in the mail and available online yesterday.

  • I know that if the company has a website you may be able to get all the information you need to do your taxes or have someone do your taxes. That's how my hubby gets his. he doesn't wait to get his W2 in the mail. He called the company and they said they will be ready to veiw online the 26th.

  • from someone who does them.... the federal date for W-2s and 1099s to be *mailed* to reciepents is January 31. Processing usually can start as early as the first week in January, but most companies need time to close their books. So it's common to get the forms between mid January and early Feb. It's hard to track this, however. So even though there are penalties for mailing W-2s and 1099s late, the penalties are rarely given. So it is possible for the froms to come a little later. Most companies do NOT do this, however. Most will have them to you before the deadline or just a few day following depend on your mail service.

  • I have mine, but my husband doesn't have either of his. Normally his company waits until the last possible minute. And of course, then we have the issue that his previous employer still has our last address and the stupid postal service can't forward our mail half the time, so there's no telling when we might see that one!
