  • make a tent out of blankets and do anything inside. it is so much more fun to do anything in a blanket fort. put the cushions from the couch on the floor and climb all over them. make an obsticle course.

  • Two year olds love singing nursey rhyme like songs, doing age appropriate puzzles, finger painting, reading books, building with blocks, helping you make and decorate sugar cookies, playing with and dressing dolls and dancing. My daughter is three right now, but ever since she was 18 months old, she would love to do all of these activities. I would break out my easel and we would paint together. It was very relaxing and fun. She especially loved reading book after book with me. Of course, it's good to have a lot of activities lined up since their attention span can be quite short. LOL. Good luck!

  • Coloring. My 2 yr olds loved to color. We'd get a roll of butcher paper and tape it to the kitchen floor and we'd go for it. They loved me to trace their whole body. Good luck!!

  • I am a director of a playgroup for toddlers in Northern Idaho, so we have to come up with activity ideas for toddlers, I'll share some :)

My son who is 2 1/2 LOVES stickers....he has fun putting stickers on paper....you could even have him color and then stick stickers on his drawings....(they don't even have to be fancy stickers either.)

Playdough is a good one too, they like to squish it in their fingers, roll it out, cut out shapes with small cookie cutters, etc.

if you are feeling ambitious, you could paint with him too. using washable paints and paper on the table, the members in our playgroup flock to the table when we get the paints out.

Singing songs, building with blocks, playing with toys with him are also great ideas

    Hope this helps :)

  • All of these ideas sound so exciting to watch children do, but my daughter still thinks crayons are food, and she makes the biggest messes. Plus she is so independent that its hard for me to get her to spend any time with me. She wants to do it all herself, without mommies help.
