Should you wear a bra when breastfreeding?

I know when your milk is coming in your supposed to wear a bra 24/7 but once supply is established can you go a night without a bra?

  • Every single article I read said to wear a bra as little as possible while breastfeeding. The pressure of a bra on your boobs can hurt the supply, or something like that.

  • You don't have to, but it's a lot more comfortable when your boobs are full of milk (they're so heavy, they may need something to hold them up) and if you leak semi regularly a bra is a nice place to put a nursing pad.

  • I've never heard that you have to wear a bra, that doesn't help your supply at all! Definitely don't wear an underwire bra, but you can wear a nursing bra when you go out or have people over. Most of the time I didn't wear one at all! Way easier for me and baby, that's whats most important!

  • I always wore tank tops with built in bras. I had a couple loose ones. They wasn't so tight I worried about my supply drying up, but they gave me some support.

  • You don't have to. You might want to sleep on a towel, though.

  • I wore one constantly when I first got my milk until my oversupply was regulated because I leaked like crazy. After that I only wore one when necessary. I have small and perky boobs...I havn't worn a bra at all this week now that I think about it and I'm still nursing my daughter! :)

  • I have... but I have more comfy ones I wear to bed. Otherwise I leak (not as much now as at first, but it still happens)

  • I wore nursing tanks that we not so tight. I loved the Glamour mom tanks that I bought from motherhood. Great support but not tight like a nursing bra or you could buy a sleep nursing sports bra the gives support but pull to the side so you can night murse.
