What should I bring on a road trip with a 4-month-old baby?

I am going on a 14 hour road trip with my 4 month old baby. I won't be driving so I will be able to tend to him the entire time. For those of you who have done this, any things you could not live without?

  • I've done this with a 9mth old and he slept most of the time. Beyond the basics, there is nothing I could really suggest. sry

  • Why are you going on a 14 hr road trip with a 4 month old? Is it nessasary or for pleasure? I personally would not put a baby through that unless I had to.

  • by now he shold have a favorite toy, make sure you do not forget this, i did and we had a horrible trip..just remmeber to try to keep to your normal routin as much as possible, if you know when he sleeps the most try to make the drive then.. we took an 8 hour drive stayed 5 days then drove home 8 hours with a 5 month old......just the normal things, diapers, teething rings, wipes lotion, soother like a pacifer...if you forget anything you can always stop at the store....
just enjoy your trip as much a possible..

  • my son gets rocked to sleep everynight,i know bad habit, but on our trip we did not have a rocking chair available, so it took about 3 hours to get him to sleep when normally it takes 10 minutes....so whatever you use at your bedtime routin make sure you bring it or they will have one where you are going..

  • baby monitor, so after your son is asleep, you still can visit with family or friends and be able to hear your little one..

  • In response to the anonymous posting - this trip is for pleasure and I see no reason that he cannot come along. Do I really need to stay locked up in my house until he is a toddler? If he needs to get out of his seat we will stop. What do the rest of you think? Am I wrong here?

  • nope your not wrong.......Are you going to stay with family? Are you planning on taking a pac n play ? the pack n play was our life saver..are you using a boopy pillow to feed, is he bf or formula?
on our trip we took our pac n play, bouncy chair, boopy, stroller...all came in handy but we also have a truck so we had the room to take it.....we could have done without the bouncy, astroller workss just as good for spoon feeding..
