How and when do I tell my boss I'm pregnant?

Recently I got a new job, I'm pregnant with twins and my job was really strainful on my body so I decided to get a job where I wouldnt have to lift or stand as much. I found an opening at a job that was ideal. I'm already starting to show and sooner or later they will notice also. I didnt want to te tell them because there not suppose to discriminate but some people will. One of the girls there recently found out she was pregant and within 2 days after her finding out she miscarried. I don't want to be treated like crap by her and don't know when to tell my boss. Any advice?

  • Wait until you pass probation. l told my boss at 3 months. Unless you really trust a co worker, your boss should be the first one to find out just in case that person shares the news. Good Luck!

  • Definitely don't tell anyone at work until you tell your boss. You don't want them to let it slip accidentally. I would just wait to tell until you are obviously pregnant and not just putting on weight. It's a different time for everyone. I told my boss when I was 5 months along because I was starting to need to wear maternity clothes to work so she would have figured it out. Definitely wait until the first trimester is over if you can. Good luck, I hope the pregnancy goes well!

  • If you work in an office I would send an email telling your boss that you are pregnant and not to tell anyone else in the office. Or write a little letter in a sealed envalope that says confidential and give it to them. But I did not tell my office till I was almost months along, I just wore big clothes, but with twins you might show sooner.

  • I'm 13 weeks pregnant and its inevitable. A girl there already asked me and I didnt want to deny it . I told her not to tell anyone. I wear big shirts kinda just to make it look like I'm pudgy around the waist. I don't know what to do especially after my co-worker just had a miscarriage and then I end up telling them that I'm pregnant and with twins. This girl has been trying for years. I already have 2 little girls. I don't want people to talk shit or treat me like crap.

  • you need to tell your boss .. god forbid something happen and workmens comp may not cover you cause you knew your were preg. and didnt tell someone

  • Tell your boss if you are more than a few weeks along, meaning 9-10 weeks. It's best to let them know first. Telling someone else may led to gossip and a bigger hassle than you want to handle
