What is a good hairstyle for woman in her forties?

I feel so out of date..I usually wear loose clothes only bc I don't want nothing clinging to me I usually wear a pony tail or bun I don't wear my contacts only glasses I just do what makes me feel comfortable and simple I hate it. But I got to thinking the other day I can not be doing this to myself I have to try to look kind of pretty for my kids especially for my dh. But I have no taste for nothng what so ever.
Where do I begin?
Hey you ladies...especially you 20ish ones...Can you give me some tips without looking like a grandma or too teenagerish.

  • Well I think you will look beautiful no matter what. If you want to change your hairstyle co with something simple since your alittle onler, something like a bob or Kate Gosslins old hair style, if you would like a pit longer hair keep it to max at sholder lenth.
    hope i helped

  • Everything takes getting use to but if you give it a chance, you wont even notice it anymore. If you have hair back there then it's time to let it down! Go on your website & look up one of the most popular salons in your area & then let them know that you want more of a younger look 30ish hairstyle & maybe JUST a little away from the face. You can also change up your new hairstyle by going to the store & picking up "Band straps" These work like a headband but it's a streatchy strap & ONLY to pull your hair an inch away from your face. Get away from those baggy clothes & look for things that Flow nicely on you. Shop online in Speigel, Chico's or Coldwater Creek. Go for it! DO IT FOR YOU & bring back that woman from inside!! ( ;

  • I'm 45 and in the last couple of years have completely made myself over.  I'm now looking and feeling better than I have in years.

    I'm sure I can help you make yourself over.  Pm me if you're interested.

  • There is a sort of "art" to dressing appropriately... It is a learned skill, that's for sure. If I were you, I'd spend a day browsing through some nice stores, look through their professional sections, try on LOTS of stuff, and you might be surprised what you find that you actually like and feel good in. After finding some clothes you like (and it really only takes finding a few pieces to give your wardrobe a boost) go to a salon and ask an experienced hairdresser to give you some advice on a new look. They'll be able to help you out, I'm sure.
    Good luck!

  • I would recommend looking into what these two shows suggest. For the most part I think they do a good job of balancing comfort, age-appropriateness, and just plain attractive clothes. Really, the most important thing I think is to make sure your clothes actually fit properly. Any style that fits your body well will good.
