Do cravings indicate which gender your baby will be?

When I first got pregnant , I saw an online quiz (for entertainment purposes)based around old wives tales meant to help determine if you're carrying a boy or girl. I was not far along enough to take it, but remember some questions were based around cravings, one in particular involved dairy. I remember that with my first 2 pregnancies (both girls) I craved dairy (cottage cheese, cream cheese, milk, etc) but not so much with my 3rd pregnancy (a boy). Now I'm pregnant again, and the dairy cravings are back; I just can't get enough bagels with cream cheese. Could this mean I'm having a girl? (I'm 16 wks and have not had a sex determination U/S yet)

  • No. It's just what you said...an old wives tale.

  • I drank two gallons of milk a week with my son (until my stomach could no longer handle dairy at least). With him it was definitley sweets I craved (which is supposed to be a girl thing) this baby all I want is salty stuff (which is the boy craving) but I have to wait three more weeks to find out!

  • I don't believe that stuff anymore. Both my pregnancies were so different that I was hell bent on the fact that this was a boy. My first I went through 4 gallons of milk a week! And I really didn't crave sugary things at all. Salty only. ( old wives tale said that that means boy.) nope. I had a girl. This time I want sugar sometimes, but I craved lots of sour things too pickles, salt and vinegar chips. Yada Yada... And again, we are having another girl. So I don't believe that crap now. Everyone looks at me, strangers as well, and tells me I am "carrying a boy" and I say,(with sarcasm and annoyance) " no I am not... There's a vagina in there..." it's annoying, but I got my hopes up both times for boys, and I am just meant to have girls!! Well my husband is anyways! We joke that all of his sperm are swimming around with little bows on their heads!!
