  • My sister is on a tight budget ans has 2 kids. she did her research and found out it is cheapest to go in late october. that is the off season, hotels across the street were less than 60 a night, and it was cheaper to buy the week pass

  • on disboards you will get lots of ideas. People who own timeshares with the disney vacation club normally will advertise to rent their points out there. All the places normally have a minimum of kitchenette so you can prepare food and save money that way.

For vacation rentals the least amount of points is January, September and the first 2 weeks of December. You could get a studio (sleeps 4) on Disney property for about $80 or $90 a night Sun - Thurs with kitchenette. Fri and Sat are double the cost. Depends which resort you want to stay at Boardwalk, Old Key West etc. The points normally rent around $10 each. I would have to check but I believe parking is included.

There are also some sites where you can buy discount tickets. I don't know if you will save much on the 2 day tickets though.

  • I actually did Disney a few years ago for under $1000 two night stay, and Disneyworld... we also drove to Daytona Beach.
Disney has lots of things no one thinks about- for instance the food there doesn't have to be outrageous! (We went and bought 1 burger, split it in half and ate the awesome salad bar for $6.00) If you buy toast at 50 cents, there is peanut butter and jelly on the salad bar- so that's what the kids ate... You can also buy a big drink cup for like $3 and have it refilled throughout the day...
There are thousands of things you can do to save money while you are there- my son actually had an 'accident' while waiting in line for one of the rides, and my ex husband went to the park office, and they gave us a $50 gift certificate for the long wait in line, and our son was able to get a change of clothes... they really took care of us while we were there on a budget!
