  • of course it hurts LOL they are sticking you with multiple needles at once. :o)

it will hurt less the more "padding" a place has so avoid getting it directly on bone if you are looking for less pain.

  • Well, it's irritating. There were some parts on my ribs that didn't feel too great, and the one right on my breastbone was funny because I didn't want to breathe the whole time and mess him up! Also on my thigh it hurt/tickled in some spots.

  • Well, yea it hurts. It depend son how high your pain threshold is though. I tolerate pain easier than some people. I have 3 tattoos and the one in the middle of my lower back hurt the most by far. I also have one on my ankle and another on my shoulder. The shoulder hurt the least.

  • It mainly depends on your pain tolerance. I have a very high pain tolerance (for 2 out of my 3 c-sections, I went home without pain meds) and it is just a little annoying... if that. I enjoy getting a tattoo.

  • I love being tattooed. I have 8. It hurts, but its a bearable pain. My ribs were the worst for me. I had one of my tattoo guys tell me to pinch repeatedly, just little tiny pinches, in the area you are thinking of getting the tat and it should be a descent indicator of how it will feel compared to other places. It just shows you how many nerve endings you have in that area. The more nerve endings. the more pain involved....

  • i have one on my ankle, one on my thigh, one on my shoulderblade, and one on my inner wrist. the wrist one hurt a bit, the others weren't so bad, it felt funny, and a little uncomfortable but they didn't hurt.

  • The one across my lower back hurt the worst. But even at that it wasnt unbearable. I have one on my leg that didnt really hurt at all. I am getting one on my foot in about a month so we will see how bad that one will hurt.

  • No, its not painful in the least. I guess I can see where it would be on the ankles or other boney parts of the body. I have a tat on my upper left arm and it is a decent size and I didnt flinch the whole time. At first it kinda tickled then went numb towards the end. My tat artist said that thicker skin is tougher and does not hurt but skin that is thinner (usually skin untouched by the sun) is very sensitive. but IMO it does not hurt.

  • It depends on the person. A parlor I used to go to used to have signs up, that I always found funny. ! said "of course it hurts getting a tattoo, your are being stabbed with tiny needles 100 times or more per second".

I have 7 tattoos and they all "hurt" but the only one that really caused me any pain was the one on the top of my foot. My wrist, lower back, calf, ankle, and chest, and shoulder weren't bad at all..

It really depends on the person and the artist as well, and the needle number too. I have found the outline is always a bit more uncomfortable than shading or coloring.

I have heard, from multiple sources that the rib cage is the worst... i wouldn't doubt it.
