Is diaper rash a sign of a food allergy?

Take her off of the carrots for about a week and see if the rash goes away. Call her doctor in the morning to let them know what happened in case they want to see her. It could be the carrots or it could just be a coincidence.

I agree go back to rice cereal for a week, then you can try carrots again later. Since she did not have diarhhea, hives etc...probably she is fine. If the diaper rash comes back again then I would just avoid them until she is older. Carrots are not a common allergic food so it's probably not a true allergy.

No need to call the doc IMO...only if she had sever hives, swelling, trouble breathing etc...then that is a sign of a deadly reaction.

Diaper rash can be a symptom of a food allergy or a food intolerance (more likely an intolerance rather than an allergy because she didn't have any other allergic symptoms). I would stop the food wait awhile and then reintroduce it. If she gets a diaper rash again then let your pediatrician know.

We found out that my daughter had a problem with carrots and apples. She would get severe diaper rash after eating them. If she does have the same problem with carrots as my daughter did just make sure to read all the ingredients becausethey use apples and carrots as fillers in other foods. We would always have Triple Paste on hand just in case something slipped through and we did not know. It was easier to read the labels than to hear her cry in pain. Wait until she clears up and test them again if she gets another rash from eating them I would just cut carrots out altogether. On a good note since she is 3 now she is able to eat apples and carrots again cause she really does love both of them.

My son is having the same problem! He is 7 months old, and we had already introduced about 10 different foods when he started having a terrible, spreading diaper rash. It has become a yeast infection (which we are treating), but I have also discovered that it gets worse immediately after eating certain foods -- we suspect carrots and apricots so far. He has no other food allergy symptoms, and the rash is only on his diaper area.
