Should I be concerned if I found a lump in my breast?

Went to the Doctor because I have a lump in my right breast. He says it feels like a cyst. Have to get a mammorgram. Did anyone have this and it was alright?

  • Yes.........mine was a milk duct that was clogged. My mother had a biopsy and when they put the needle in the disappeared. I know its nerve wracking but try not to get scared yet. It could be alot of things.

  • My mom used to get cysts in her breasts quite often and they would always do a needle biopsy on them, they were always just cysts. Her doctor said that she needed to cut out caffeine (she was a big soda drinker) and she did and hasn't had any cysts since.

  • Yes! I went because my lump was painful. I spent nearly two weeks waiting to get the mammogram. Now there a MANY types of cysts, but mine ended up being one that fed off caffeine! Can you believe it ~ my coffee was giving my breasts a 'lump job." Well, as long as I stay away from caffeine, chocolate and anything with caffeine it, I'm okay. Good luck and make sure you get that mammogram to BE SURE what sort of lump it is.

  • I was going to mention the same thing about caffeine. My 3 sisters all have cysts in their breasts.
I on the other hand had no lumps or cysts. Went in for f/u mammo because I was having nipple discharge. My gyn thought it was a clogged milk duct. (breast feeding) Only too find out I had breast cancer. I was 38 yrs old my son was 15 months old. But I'm now celebrating 6yrs of being cancer free. Usually your doctors can tell from how the lumps feel. So try not worry (I know thats hard to do). If you drink a lot of caffeine (coffee, soda, green tea etc) try to eliminate these before you go for your mammo. It will help with the discomfort of the mammo. Keep me posted on how you make out.

  • Most mammos are normal. Don't delay though. The sooner you know it is nothing serious, the better.

  • When I was 23 I had this. Found a lump, got an ultra sound because insurance would not pay for an ultra sound. It looked suspicious so they said and they went in and did a needle byopsy on it. Turned out to be a benign tumor. However the surgeon gave me the option to remove it or let it be. I opted to remove it. After the surgery the surgeon then told me she was glad I decided to remove it because that large tumor sprouted others in just a months time. They had to cut my milk ducts but its better than a tumor. Lots of people have cysts and things, just follow through on it. I wish you luck.

  • Lumps in the breast are nothing more than swollen milk ducts. These can be avoided by getting estrogen levels under control, mostly with diet. Sugar and alcohol cause breast tenderness. Cut is out for a couple of days, and you will notice the difference. Also, one of the best ways to protect yourself from breast cancer is to take iodine. Iodine helps to chelate toxins that acculate in breast tissue such as chlorine, bromine and flouride. Avoid these toxins as much as possible.
I speak from expereince. I survived breast cancer, and have since learned that knowlege is power. Educate yourself about breast health and join the group I started called rethinkthepink.
