  • yes. I've been a waitress before. It sucks and people don't respect them. If you don't wanna tip, then stop being lazy and cook for yourself.

Good service, I tip 20%, not so good service gets 15%, bad service gets 10%

  • Yes because hubby was a waitor at one time. They are paid about $2.30 which is ridiculous and they depend on our money.

  • Most definitely. We usually tip anywhere from 20-30% depending how good and attentive they were.

  • AHH, angel, rough night at the restaurant?

Our grill caught fire tonight. 3X. It was rough.

I've been stiffed a couple of time, but the big deal for us is the tips left on credit cards. If we get under 20%, it counts against our scores, too many of those and they give you less tables!

  • I always tip at least 20% even if it is bad service. I give them the benefit of the doubt that they could have just had a bad day. If they're pretty good I'll tip a couple extra dollars. They only make a few dollars an hour and work basically for tips.

  • We always tip. If you can't afford to tip, stay home. I think it is SO rude when people don't tip. How much we tip is just like what Anon said.

  • you should always tip. waiters and waitresses pay taxes on assumed tips, even if they don't get them. they do not make minimum wage- usually it's only about $2-3 per hour that they get, so the tips are what pay the bills. could you live on those wages? i didn't think so. they get yelled at when the cooks screw things up, they work multiple tables at once and still mostly remember what everyone ordered, they can carry all those dang plates without spilling them, and they have to clean, too. they deserve the tips. we always tip at least 25%. yep, we are big tippers. it always makes our waiter happy, and they are even more nice to us the next time. we hardly ever go out, but when we do, we show our appreciation for not having to cook and clean up after ourselves.

  • I waited tables as well, and nope. I don't tip every time. 99 percent of the time I tip. If I get a waitress who is a total slacker and a bitch, then no. You don't get a tip. Waiting tables is a job, this I understand, but it is the employees responsibility to DO their job, regardless.

I try to be empathetic but shitty, slow service with an attitude is uncalled for in any situation. If you can't handle the job, find a new one. On my shittiest day I still gave great service, even if it was slower than normal..
