Should we transition our child from a crib to a toddler bed or to a twin bed?

Does anyone know a good website to find toddler beds?!? I don't want to spend more than $150. I live in an apt; so, i'm debating on whether to get my daughter a toddler bed, or a twin bed?!? We all know how fast 2-yr-olds grow. She'll be 3 this summer. If toddler beds are something that she will grow out of quickly, then my best bet will probably be a twin bed?! But, do i have the room for a twin?!? I'm having another baby this summer. So, they will share a room.

  • A toddler bed is actually the same size as a crib. It uses the same mattress. You are better off saving your money and buying a twin bed. She will probably outgrow the toddler bed in a year or maybe even less.

  • We went with a twin bed with my dd. I couldn't see spending the money on a toddler bed to only have to upgrade again.

  • the only reason we used a toddler bed with our son is because we had a convertible crib. he used the toddler bed part from 18 months to now (he's almost 3 1/2) and when we move this month he's going into a twin bed. i think if you don't have a convertible just go right to a twin and save yourself the money :)

  • we got a toddler bed for free. so we have ben using that. so it really did not cost us anything at all. but i am also do in the spring so we will probly end up getting two single beds latter on. once the new baby is out of her crib. but like some people they will be sharing the room for now. an it will be a very long time for that.

  • Go ahead and get the twin. All you will need is a bedside guard so K-Dog doesnt fall off. You are going to save yourself a lot of money getting the twin.

  • If you want to buy TWO beds, then go with a toddler bed. If you want to save money in the long run...you can get a plain metal frame for a twin, and a twin mattress/box spring for about what you want to spend...no point in getting a super good mattress while they're little...potty training/accidents, etc. LOL (midnight puking sessions...)

Most toddler beds have a 50lb weight limit. Something else to consider.

Can't say if you'll have room for both..don't know how big the room is!

  • Save money & just go towards the Twin bed. When you have your baby go online & look for the cribs that transform 3 ways. Crib to daybed to toddler size & the only thing you have to change for the toddler size is the mattress.

  • The mattress in the toddler bed we got for my daughter is way bigger than a crib mattress. We spent about 100 bucks total for the whole set.. frame, mattress, sheets at Ikea.. it's really cute & will probably last until she's about 6.
