  • most docs will say to try to hold off until the age of 1 on any seafood. my youngest being born in the summer and living on the eastern shore of md for her first birthday had a crab fest she ate crabs and shrimp. i would say look at your family history if there are no seafood allergies in the imediate family try a lil bit and see how your child reacts to it. if no problems then alloy him/her to enjoy it.

  • I had given fish sticks about that time. But other than that....we didn't give seafood until closer to two.

  • "Fish, specifically shellfish and "boney" fish, are known allergens for an infant. It is often recommended to introduce fish only after a baby has reached 1 year of age. Many sources suggest waiting until after 3 years old. Still, other sources say that introducing fish to a baby at 9-10 months old is perfectly safe. Shellfish should not be introduced to a child who may be allergy prone until around 3 years old or even older. Shellfish such as lobster, oysters etc. can induce deadly allergic reactions." http://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/introducingfishtobaby.htm

Definitely talk to your doctor first and if there is a possibility of an allergy stay far away from fish.

  • My son tried a Beechnut baby food with Salmon and sweet potatoes and noodles in it at 9 months and did good. I agree to stay away from the shellfish until they are older though.
