Does labor and delivery get easier with each pregnancy?

For those of you who have had more than one child, does the labor and delivery process get easier the second time around? My first time was hell. I was in so much pain for so long. I am 7 weeks pregnant and I am so nervous about labor...

  • Abby, I am not done with my second pregnancy yet. But, I do want to say that you shouldn't worry about labor right now. Just enjoy it the second time around! It's a wholly different experience than the first, one way or another. I have learned in the last 35 weeks that each pregnancy really is different, and each has its ups and downs.

I'm actually looking forward to labor this time. My first was a little...weird. But knowing what I'm about to go through is a bit empowering, and I know I can make different decisions and have an all around great experience bringing my new baby into the world.

  • My first was more than 30 hours and they contractions were so bad but really easy once i got the epidural, and I only had to push for about 10 min. My second I didn't get the epidural but it wasn't so bad I kept expecting it to get worse and it only lasted four hours with two pushes and she was here. My first I was induced though so I think it was more painful because of the pitocin.

  • Honestly my first pregnancy was easy. No problems until I was 36 weeks and my water broke. As for my second pregnancy I started to have issues at 28 weeks started to thin and dialate...was put on bedrest luckly didnt deliver until I was 38 weeks. Both however I was induced and so I didnt feel pain with contractions until the pitocin kicked in then the contractions really hurt. With both kids I pushed for less then 10 min...Im lucky
