Do you give your kids Easter baskets?

I don't get the Easter basket thing.=S. I was talking to a friend and she's talking about how she spent 100 dollars on her son's Easter basket. Is that the norm?

I grew up not celebrating any holidays or birthdays(Never had money, Welfare kid) So, I don't know.=S.

  • We spend maybe $20 tops on our son's Easter Basket. Last year we bought a pre-made one for like $10 with a bouncy ball and some candy in it and he was as happy as could be. We just do it as a fun celebratory-type thing. It's not a necessity at all though. Just a fun tradition. Just like Christmas; it's not all about the gifts if you don't make it about them, it's just a fun extra.

  • We don't spend a lot of money on Easter baskets, but we do them and an Easter Egg hunt every year. It's fun and it's a good tradition that brings great memories.

  • I do not spend any money on Easter baskets. They have absolutely no spiriutual validity to why we celebrate it. This is the day as Christians we celebrate the ressurection of Jesus Christ.

  • The point of Easter baskets is that they're fun for the kids.

$100? Not even close in my house! LOL Maybe $20/kid --- we fill them with candy & small (mostly outside) toys like frisbees, balls, water guns, etc.

  • YES AS CHRISTIANS WE CELEBRATE THE RESSURECTION AN THERE ISNT ANYTHING WRONG WITH HAVING A EASTER BASKET OR A EASTER EGG HUNT. I COME FROM A LINE OF PASTORS AND PREACHERS IT WAS THEIR HOUSE WE HAD A FAMILY EGG HUNT AND RELATIVES FROM NEAR AN FAR WERE THERE TO CELEBRATE LIFE!

  • To the best of my understanding the whole egg hunt, basket, thing is totally pagan, and there is nothing christian about it. But I guess a lot of holidays are like that anymore. I'll have to go do some research on it now.
