What indoor plants are safe around kids and pets?

My father-in-law got us a rubber plant and I guess those plants are bad for kids and animals...So what are good indoor plants that are good for kids and animals and look good?

  • why would rubber plants be bad? i would think real plants would be because the kids/pets would eat them and get sick.

  • The plant is a real plant...it's called a rubber plant and they are poisonous from what I've been told.

  • I am a florist and I can give you some suggestions. african violets, spider plants, wandering jew, peperomias, Jade plant,christmas cactus. even though these are free of known toxins please dont allow kids or pets to eat. Roses can also be safe. hope this helps.

  • I enjoy growing my own herbs, some of them flower and look really pretty, and if someone eats them oh well.
