  • He will be just fine. Meet the teachers and staff at the school. Ask questions but DO NOT let your child know that you are worried. Avoid asking your child if he is worried. Asking will only make him anxious. Even if you don't feel confident, ACT confident. Fake it 'til you make it! Confidence and security are the attitudes you want to rub off on him :) I've been through the same thing and I'm about to do it again with my youngest.

  • Does he seem nervous?? I would get him excited about the bus and meeting new friends. You could sing the wheels on the bus. You on the other hand are going to be nervous for little while no matter what.

  • Hi, he'll be fine, this will teach him how to be responsible, at some point this will help u in the long run, just teach him how to come straight home from school bus stop & no talking to strangers. u can't babi him all the time!!!

  • Oh my...I went through the same things, fears. My son is in K now. Let me tell you, all the fear, thats all it was! he loves school. I really didnt want to do the bus thing, but I have a younger child and knew sometimes, especially cuz of weather the bus would be better. I thought I'll drive him 1st then he can do the bus thing. but after talking to the school the 1st 4 or 5 days of school his K teacher would come to the bus with the other other staff on bus patrol for the kids to recognize where to go and learn the routine. so I learned its best to start them on the bus 1st to get them to learn what to do to avoid confusion. the bus is one of his favorite parts of the day. all K's sit together too, plus he can meet kids in his neighborhood. Im a SAHM and my son has never been away from me, we hardly go out. so I totally understand your fear. He will be with 20 or so other kids in his class mostly on the same boat..

  • I hear from everyone this happens, as it did for me. I got a call from his K teacher to intriduce herself before school started.. she answered all my ? 's and we set up for future communication. I got her email and #. I also learned about volunteer opportunites in the class that might be an option for you. but once school started, since I was open to her open my fear and this being my 1st child in school. she really broke down the day for me, activities, time line stuff. knowing where and what he's be doing really made the day go by easier. this might sound koo koo, but she also gave me a call during her lunch the 1st day. she said she had 2 other moms to call to. I didnt want to come to the school and be a nut., she offered, our fear isnt an uncommon 1. were talking about our children, nothing is more important. try not to show your son so much of your concern but reassure you'll always be there when he gets home. good luck

  • I had this same problem!! My oldest and only child started kindergarten this last year! He is almost done already!! Man the time flies! Anyways I was so nervous for him but he was OVERLY excited about it and he always saw the school bus pass our house prior to him riding it so he was extremely excited!! At the school my son goes to the teachers guide the kids to the right bus and make she they get on fine. Then the bus driver will make sure he gets home!! the first day of school we took him and he cried when we were leaving! Talk about HEART BREAKING especially when he was SO excited!! Anyways the school year is almost over and we haven't had ANY problems with him at all. He actually kept saying over breaks that he was ready to go back to school because he loved to learn and was really bored at home! LOL I understand how you feel but he will be just fine!! :) good luck!!
