  • I've always made my own baby food. If you have the time, yes there are lots of perks. It is cheaper, you can offer a lot more variety, you can gradually add texture without baby noticing, you don't have to cook it as much as baby food manufacturers do so your food will have more nutritional value, it is very convenient (if you freeze it in ice cube size portions), you can mix food easily to offer different tastes, you can add herbs and seasonings when baby is older. I've really had fun making my own baby food and it isn't as hard as you would think. Go to www.wholesomebabyfood.com for ideas.

  • Well it dose taste better and is cheaper
I make about 75% of my son's food. We still get some jarred foods....

I think it's fun to make food for my son I'll make one batch of something like Sweet Potatoes and they last for weeks in the freezer

  • Which would YOU rather eat? Food from a jar, or fresh cooked food? There is often much less prep required then you may think. Soft bits of rip banana, avocado, cooked sweet potato on the end of your finger, a spoon or just in bits on the tray are all easy and require little prep. Also more nutrient dense and yummy than many jarred foods. You don't need to buy baby applesauce, just get regular unsweetened applesauce (w/o chunks).

Basically any soft fruits and veggies, pasta etc. If you can squish it with your finger and put it into baby bite sized pieces it is baby food!

  • I think its better and it tastes way better than the jarred stuff!! Its important that children know what real food tastes and smells like, the jars don't even come close to how fresh fruits and veggies taste and smell!
