What do I put in an Easter basket?

We are having a big Easter gathering for my children and my SIL's children. I need ideas for what kinds of things to put in the baskets and the plastic eggs for the little ones. There will be a 2 year old, and 14 month old, and a 10 month old. I really am not into candy for the little ones. My 7 year old will get some, but I need ideas for the little ones. I can get those really big Easter eggs to fill with things or just hide random things in the yard. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • gummy snacks, stamps, stickers, Gerber puffs, Teddy Grahams, playdoh, temp tattoos, those chicks that activate when you stick them on your fingers and peep, home-made coupons for trips they like or free dessert/trip to park/etc., crayons, washable markers, balls, bubbles - they have small ring size bubbles in the party favor area.

Last year we did this for my (then) 18 mo old and 6 yo cousin. We dotted the bottom of the eggs that the 18 mo old could have (no candy) and just traded the kid's eggs so they each got stuff they could have. It worked out really well.

  • what i do with my kids every Easter (they are now 8, 15, & 16 and still all love it). I hide the eggs but write a number on each on that coinsides with a certain prize. Last year my 15 y/o son won a barbie movie and had to haggle with his sister to trade it is so fun. For kids that young though unisex prizes should be easy to find. As for the basket, one or 2 candies and a book, fancy new toothbrush with flavored toothpaste, coloring books, story books (all easter related of course) Good luck.

  • Here is what I do for the kids in my family every year and its a HUGE hit for all the kids aged 3 months all the way to 10 years old! I buy the large eggs or just a little colorful basket from the Dollar Store and add an Usborne Book (www.ubah.com/u2688 there are tons to choose from for less than $5 this year I did the books Why? That's Not My Bunny, Easter Story, This Little Piggy (only $3.57!) and a variation of the Dot to Dot books (They're just $3.99!)

Then I add a little shredded paper with a spring time lip balm, a
Disney Bath Time Body Paints, and a Spring Hand Creams from www.youravon.com/dhullum (order from this link and get free shipping with code fsany)

I save time and trouble by having everything shipped to me and I spend about the same as I would on candy, most of the time less! for a nice gift that the kids won't stop bragging about all day long! I hope you consider :) GL! and Happy Easter!

  • When my son and his best buddy we too young for us to give candy to but old enough to gather plastice eggs we made it a picnic for them. It was hilarious! My friend filled the eggs with different things for lunch. Hardboiled egg and some carotts and celery, crackers and a little chocolate egg for a special treat. I usually fill the eggs with little stamps, stickers and toys.

  • Nobody's suggested money? ...Nickels, dimes, quarters. and of course a few dollars folded up so they fit into the eggs.

  • Change for infants and toddlers? That seems ludicrous! Please don't give them money yet!
