  • people judge them because they assume that the teens were being irresponsible and not thinking about the repurcussions of their actions. there are some people who are just stuck on that thought, but some people can change their opinions if you show them that you are mature and prepared to take on the responsibility of your child(ren)

  • i think people who judge teen moms they just think of them as careless as it was unplanned and arn't capable of being a good parent just because they made a mistake and because they are young. i dont feel that way i was 19 when i got pregnant but im sure people will still judge me because i am young but i don't care what they think because i am a good mother

  • I think you answered your own question Dear. The problem with a teenager is that "things just happen"... adults try to "prevent things from just happening"... Therein lies the difference. Teenagers are irresponsible in every way My Dear.

  • Don't let them get to you. Thats what I do. I am a teen mom and would not take it back! Being a teen mom takes a lot of self control. And in a lot of chase it changes the girl. Just tell HEY it was my choice and my problem why dont you just deal with your own! They should look at the bright side you didnt kill the baby!

  • its just a stereotype. i feel bad for young mothers (including myself, i had my son at 20) but i definitely do not judge their parenting skills based on their age.

  • I know a teen mom. The firtst was an accident. The second was on purpose on her end. Told the father she was on BC, but wasnt. She knew he was trying to leave her. She thought another baby would keep him. Guess what? He still left. She tried that with 2 other guys too. They left too. Maybe that why "some", no not all, get judged.

  • WOW I can't believe that someone just said " teenagers are irresponsible in every way" Thats not fair, you dont know what every tenager is like. I had my DD at 19. I am not a bad mother. Thats little girl has everything she needs at any given moment!

  • I was a teen mom. Had our first at 19, second at 21 and now our third at 24.
I had it hard. (even harder because i looked 15)
Keep your chin up. We used a condom, but they're not 100%.
We are happily married, and knew that we wanted a family someday. That day
    just came a lot sooner.

If you can take care of your child(ren), then you just have to know
that you are a great mom, and not in the stastic of abortions or adoption,
or leaving the child at home for grandparents to raise while you go get
your kicks somewhere else. you know what i mean??

    Good luck to you!

  • Oh and maybe I should throw in there that she WAS planned. Not every "teen" pregnancy just happens.

  • Somtimes when I hear of young moms under 18, it does WORRY me. less than 18 generally have not finished high school, are not ready to take on the responsibility or just find it alot harder than they tought. I had my first child at 19 and that was still too young....but much better than at less than 18. lots of girls do get pregnant due to all kind of reasons, including accidently. They get pregnant due to condom mal functions, didn't think it happens one or two times., thought the guy withdrew on time etc. I do not judge these kids, it is more of hope that they get the support they need, none of us know what raising children is all about until we have them. Those of us who have kids know how hard it can be when they are sick or teething, and the younger you are the harder to deal with. Generally, under 18 moms are having a hard time adjusting. they are changing diapers while friends are changing to go out . it's stressful
