  • Label the boxes clearly about which room they go to. And it helps if you mark on the outside of the box about what is in there, so you won't be digging through the boxes to find your summer clothing, for example. Get rid of everything that you possibly can before the move. If you haven't worn it in two years, or used it in two years, throw it out (donate it) before the move- there is no use to moving things and then throwing them out. Good luck with your move.:)

  • The labels and measure doorways for furniture. I just moved in this apartment beginning of March and my couch which is custom made, wouldn't fit up the stairs! :[

  • GET LOTS AND LOTS OF HELP :)
make it into like a "moving party" and then have a grill ready and grill something to feed everyone and have sodas and maybe cookies available to show your appreciation :)

  • To add to Amy's suggestion, send out for pizza. That way you won't have to cook at all nor stock up on food. Have some two liter sodas and some beer. When you ask for help, tell them that at the end of the day that you are having pizza and beer, that will encourage those who like these to be there. :)

  • if you dont think you'll be all settled in today, but want to move the majority of the stuff for now or today, keep the beds, some clothes...etc at the old house and just move stuff you dont "need". label the boxes and try to keep everything together from the same room. if you are using boxes but have a limited supply, try unpacking them when you are at the new house so you can reuse them. it's kinda pain in the ass but that was my situation. I reused boxes or just used big garbage bags!
