Will WIC provide checks for formula longer than 12 months?

If so when should I start introducing whole milk?

  • I think you can get formula longer if you get a note from the pediatrician, but most drs recommend whole milk after one. I started my son on whole milk about a week after his first birtday, because that was when I could use the first coupon with whole milk.

  • I think you can only get formula till 12 mos. unless you get a "prescription" for it from your Dr. Our 23 week preemie received NeoSure formula from WIC until she was 2 yrs old.

  • With my first DD she turned 1 April 29th 2006 so she got formula for that whole month, but didn't get any for the month of May

My second daughter just turned 1 January 11th of this year and she only got formula until the whole month of December they didn't give me any for the month of January. My DD was hard to break from formula (my second DD) so I achually had to buy a couple cans after wic stopped giving them to me until I could get her to drink other stuff cause she wouldn't drink anything, but formula for the longest time
