  • I have heard a million remedies and have tried a few none of them work. Just learn to love your body and eventually you will understand that everyone has them somewhere (even if you cant see them by first glance) We all know where they come from. Embrace that those strech marks gave you a beautiful child that will love you no matter what and you can wear fitted shirts and buy 2 pcs. that are like tanks and bikini bottoms or something not everything is about how you look but how you act. GOOD LUCK!!!! remeber if you love yourself others will love you.

  • I am HORRIBLE when it comes to scars so you can imagine how upset I was when I started getting stretch marks. Ive come to terms with it and when my 3 yr old asks me if I have ouchies I just tell her "no honey those are from when I carried you in my belly". Just remember if you didnt have those you wouldnt have your baby. Their not the end of the world and I consider them to be a milestone on my body.

  • I agree with 1boredmommy. Sorry to tell you this, but NOTHING works! Stretch marks depend on the elasticity of your skin (or lack of!) and genetics. So, if you're mom got 'em, you will too.

I answered another question about these recently and explained that anyone can get them. My hubby has them on his lower back from a growth spurt when he was a child. People who are heavy and lose weight can get them.

I hate mine too, because not only do I have them, but I have that baby pouch as well (and I'm thin and fit) -- I'll just never have a flat tummy. I try to be grateful for parts of my body I'm proud of (like my legs) and also the fact that they aren't any wider than they are (my sister's are literally as wide as a finger!)

  • I know this won't help much but it goes along with the previous answers: Stretch marks are genetic. If your grandma, mom or sister had them when they were pregnant, chances are you'll get them too. There isn't really a cure for them. I know there are lots of remedies given by other moms but every body type is different; what works for one mom, might not work for others. They say that if you keep yourself very hydrated by drinking lots of water while you are pregnant, that the stretch marks will not be so apparent. I don't know what to use post pregnancy. They have come out with something called bio-oil. You could try that. Good luck. :)

  • Most of the above posts are right: stretch marks simply do not go away. Period. You can reduce their color, sometimes even tighten them up (with EXPENSIVE treatments)... but I have to state again what so many moms have already told you. Learn to love them. I resented mine until recently, when I thought about how it's a badge of motherhood, and women have had them since before we were civilized. You're truely a woman now, and those marks can be a nice reminder. And don't believe all those photoshopped pics of celebri-moms with perfect flat tummies and whatnot. 1. The pics are PHOTOSHOPPED. 2. They may have nannies and nutritionists and personal trainers to help tighten them up again, but they DO HAVE stretch marks. I guarantee it.
