Does your child bang his head when he's angry?

My oldest used to bang his head when he was mad. He would throw himself on the floor and start hitting his head. He would also scream when he did this. I think I just made sure that he was not hurting himself and he kind of stopped on his own.
I know this might not help very much, I would ask the doctor.

my son just turned a year old and he does this all the time, but not just when he is mad.... ALL the time, he head butts the wall, his crib, the floor what ever is next to him, if you try to give him a kiss he'll head butt you, he almost broke my grandmothers nose.....and 3/4 of the time he isn't upset at all, maybe their tryin to discover new feelings or their just don't understand it and try it again and again, i'm not quite sure....if it goes on for a long time I'd be worried, but I think it's all part of the learning stage, trying new things....not sure how to explain it

my son does this all the time... and has since he could sit up by himself. he is 15 months old now and still does it, but not near as much. maybe it's a boy thing? my nephew did it too...

my son is 19 months and does this. he will also pick things up and bite them when hes mad (cuz it hurts to bite himself and he gets in more trobule for biting us LOL) maybe its a boy thing........

Nope not just a boy thing, my 15 mth daughter does it! Only when she gets mad!! It's funny but I try not to laugh and tell her to stop!!! She has a temper!

I dont know if this will help. My mom told me when i was younger that i would always hit my head on things. I am the youngest of 5 kids. She told me that she would always cover what i would hit my head on. Then she got to the point of ignoreing me, and then one day she said, "here let me help you" and after that i stopped. heh! My mom thought i was really too young to even know what i was doing, but she thought i was just wanting attention.

My daughter did this at the same age. Her dr told us that if it hurt she would stop and as long as she wasn't damaging anything or going to seriously hurt herself to ignore the behavior and she would stop. It was just a self-comforting thing. We did what the dr told us and she eventually stopped doing it.

My daughter is 14 months and she has been doing that for quite some time now. I was really worried she would get hurt so i made sure that mostly everything near her was soft, the doors and cabinets honestly I believe its because they rattle when you bang on them. I told my daughter she would get boo boo's and showed her a cut i had on my hand she looked at it and kissed it. The head banging seems to have slowed down a lot, now its only like once in a while. Dont worry they will stop and it doesnt do too much damage

my son bangs the back of his head against things because he likes the noise. he also bangs his head to rock music. lol. when he doesnt get what he wants he swings his head back as hard as he can. im not to worried about it i think they grow out of it

My twins are 20 months old and they do this every time they get really mad.
