  • To start off Congrats!!!! When I had my daughter I had all the new and cool things, but I realized I didn't need half of them yet. You will need at least 8 bottles, gas medicine, rash cream, themometer. I would suggest instead of using wipes to use rags. I know the thought is ewww, but I was told by the hospital pedi. newborns are more prone to rashes caused by wipes. The diaper thing. I would get at least one bag of premmie and one newborn. You won't know for sure what size the baby will fit till after he/she is born. We thought my daughter was going to be big so we bought nothing, but newborn. And when she was born 4 wks early she could hardly fit in the premmies (she was 5lb 14 oz.).

  • I got the box package of newborn soothie bottles, it comes with formula stackers and a pacifier. Also make sure you have enough onesies that range 0-3 and 3-6. (my son was 7 lbs born and in one month was 13) so I already jumped up a size. Also a couple sleepers. Buy newborn diapers, I used the ones that had a dip at the top for my sons belly button, cause rubbing can cause infection. Make sure to get some ones, just to be prepared. They grow so fast from 0-2 months and your so sleep deprived, you'll be glad you stocked up.

  • I have 6 bottles and thats enough for my little one. I usually wash them once or twice a day. You'll want a lot of burp clothes, i think the best burp clothes are cloth diapers, they are big and they work wonders. You have a crib or a basinett? You'll need sheets for either of those. 3 or 4 sheets should be plenty. You'll want to have diaper rash cream, tylenol and motrin. Make sure you've got the booger sucker thing (lol) and a thermomitor. Diapers, not so many NB size, i'd get 2 pks of size 1 and a size 2 because they grow fast. Plenty of wipes.

  • First make sure you have enough quick food for yourself, something I forgot to have last time. Most of my stuff was donated to me through family or craigslist. I had tons of rags for spills and spit ups. I breastfed, so i can't help you there. I had my pump though. Buy boxes and boxes of size one diapers. I went to Sams Club. Also, your baby may need a smaller size, which is N (for newborn). Buy a box of those, maybe two. Hopefully you won't have to worry about medicine for a long time.

But here's a good thing. Buy a humidifier. I live in Florida, and I purchased one for my daughter.

  • If you are bottle feeding have a can or two on hand..don't buy too much at first. If she doesn't react well to it you may need to change. Most of the other posts covered the basics.
Something a 89 yr old lady told me a few weeks before I was due with my first that I was so grateful I listened to...Take one or two days a few weeks before your due date and COOK. Make easy to freeze and reheat meals. I made spagetti, lasagna, chicken cassarole, enchiladas...and I can't even reember what else. I also made sure to have lots of frozen veggies, a package or two of frozen chicken breasts and thighs. That way meals are simple, easy and take little planning. You will be tired from labor and delivery..and then sleep deprived. I also found Dreft or Ivory Snow to be very expensive. Lots of detergents make free and clear types. All free and clear is exactly the same as the baby ALL..it just has no duck on it and it is cheaper. Congrats and good luck.

  • You will need like 3 or 4 packs of newborn diapers to start out with you might need to buy more after that depending on how big your baby is and how often they potty, the ones with the cut out for the umbilical cord are GREAT! Other than that it looks like you got it down. Do you have a bassinet? They are very useful. Also have some infant tylonal on hand because if your baby starts running fever you dont want to have to run to the store, be sure to speak to your doctor b4 giving them ANYTHING though. You will need recieving blankets to swaddle them in. A pacifier or 2 if you are using one. Blankets and socks for the baby. I dont know when you are due but a cover for the top of your car seat will be nice if it is going to be cold when you deliever. I cannot really think of anything else...good luck!!

  • As far as medicine- make sure you have Mylicon! And some infant Tylenol. If you haven't already, go to all the formula brands' websites and sign up with them- they all send good coupons. You will not believe how fast you go through it, and there is no way of knowing now what kind of formula you'll be using. Also go to the pampers and huggies sites, they send coupons too. I would recommend getting size newborn diapers, they fit up til 10 lbs. Also have one preemie outfit just in case- my daughter was 6 1/2 lbs at birth and even the newborn size clothes were too big, so I wish I would have thought of that. Oh and you can't have enough bibs, burp cloths or baby wipes so stock up!!
