Is it normal if my baby sleeps more when she's teething?

My daughter is 9 1/2 months, cutting her first teeth, and she seems so fussy along with taking an extra nap during the day now. Is this normal?

  • My dd is also teething and with her first tooth she was barely sleeping all night and would take catnaps all day. All babies are effected differently by teething..consider yourself lucky that your little one is a good sleeper thorugh all the teething cutting pain! Fussiness is very common in teething so no worries!

  • Just as MamaMindx said, all babies are different. I've seen lots of children who can't seem to get to sleep while they're teething, and others can take very long naps. Personally speaking, my son usually takes extremely long naps if he feels sick or he is teething. But two days ago he broke the mold of what's normal for him and refused to sleep because his mouth hurt so bad.

  • when my DD first started teething she never slept....now that she has cut two, and has more on the way..she will actually take a 2 1/2-3 hour nap during the day...
    all babies are different though..

  • Both My babies were extra sleepy, really grumpy, and not into food at all, we found these homeopathic teething tablets that melt under their tongue, and worked awesome, also orajel for nighttime, we used that during the day, teething rings never worked for my kiddos. HTH,. Good luck!
