How can I get my doctor to prescribe me a diet pill?

Everytime I talk to my doctor about my weight she tells me to just go on a diet and to exercise. As I well know, for some reason that doesn't work for me. I know that I need a boost, like from a pill thats made for that. So, how can I get my doctor to take this as seriously as I do? How can I get her to prescribe me a pill that will help me?

  • Your Dr is taking it very seriously. They almost never prescribe diet pills anymore. They are highly addictive and only a short term fix anyway. As soon as you go off them the weight comes back...so you stay on them and then your system eventually needs more to get the same benefits..the cycle of addiction is fierce.

  • I am registered Dietitian, I can tell you the best and most successful way to loose weight and to KEEP IT OFF FOR GOOD,,, is diet and exercise. You need to make perment lifestyle changes and stay commited to them to have successful weight loss. A pill is not the answer, your doctor is right. I know staying on track and abiding to a weight plan is hard and takes alot of effort but is well worth it to your overall health. Believe in yourself and your capabilites... you can do it... with out medications!!! Good luck! Rebecca

  • I'm sure you can find someone to give them to you. But I think there's a reason your dr doesn't want to. I don't know how much weight you need to lose, but I think it would have to be drastic for them to resort to diet pills.

  • Pills are not the answer, and I don't think there is a total diet pill that works. You are blaming the doctors for your situation. Diet and exercise is the best way. Have you tried Weight Watchers. Be realistic, you need to make healthy changes for you. There is no automatic magic pill of tons of people would use it. Even the Hydroxy Cut things tell you to diet and work-out as you take the pills.

  • If you really think you need a diet pill find a different doctor. Some won't prescribe them and some will prescribe them like crazy it just depends on who they are. It also has to do with how much you weigh, if your just a little over weight they usually don't.

  • Oh yea if you can't get them to prescribe them go to labq2.com and buy some phentirimine. (It's a prescription pill) but you can buy them there without a prescription and they work really good, I haven't tried them but my sister and mom has and they lost a lot of weight. They aren't cheap online though. So start out with a months supply first to see if you like them first. But after you lose the weight and quit taking them you need to eat healthier and excercise because the weight can come back.

  • Tiffany--nice that you are pushing pills on this Mom. Great judgement and advice--kudos to your stupidity.  If she wants them bad enough she should find them on her own.  Maybe you can tell others how to find and get crack or something along those lines.
