  • My son was the same way, and now I cannot get him to shut his mouth!!!!! Don't take it the wrong way, it is nice when he talks, but it is just so tiresome sometimes. You just wait and see. All of a sudden he will start talking and talking.....

  • I would try engaging him to speak like when giving him a cookie say cookie and see if he repeats be like I got a cookie you want a cookie can u say cookie. He may just not have anything productive to talk about so he doesnt as far as the drawing goes some kids just dont liek to do it so i think thats normal now if he has any other issues like not making eye contact etc Id get him checked for autism or another development delay disorder though I hink you just have a quiet little man on your hands

  • One of my 4 year old twin brothers still only speaks in one word sentences. "Side" for outside and "Dink" for drink. He's in speech therapy in Headstart, but besides a developmental speech delay and speech therapy, they say nothing is wrong with him. Just being a twin is the excuse they give us. Talk with your doctor about your concerns. Hopefully he just doesn't feel like talking yet and before you know it he'll be talking a mile a minute. Good luck!

  • My daughter is almost 2 years old...and she really can't say a whole lot. At first I was thinking she should have been talking because I have a 3 yr old son that started talkin at 15 months. But i talked to their doctor and they think she may have developmental delays. They say by the time a child is 21 months old they should have a vocabulary of 15 or more words...whether they say things correctly or not...But my daughter can only say maybe 7-8 words...So they are soon going to have a speech therapist come to my house to work with her on it. I would definitly speak to your Doctor about the problem. Its really scary to think something like that could be wrong (no parent expects their child to have a delay, but its better to get it fixed before its way to late)

  • People say that lots of kids talk late, but truth is, that is quite a delay. Definitely talk to you pediatrician. He should be eligible for an Early Intervention program. Some kids don't have anything seriously "wrong" with them, but they are delayed in speech, and he may be fine with just you working with him, I would suggest you get him into speech therapy where he can make greater gains.
