Do you use an IUD for birth control?

i have Mierena and am quite happy with it.

Girl I have it and love it!!!! The first 5 months sucked because my body was gettin used to it and I spotted for a week had my period for a week then spotted for a nother week....I was goin crazy.....but now I have my period maybe 3 days and it is so lite I love it I ve had it for almost 4 years and well no surprise yet lol!!!                                                                                                                                                      Votes up:0 Votes down:0

I had an IUD put in and developed a very bad infection from it. I never stopped bleeding and hurting. I would never suggest it again to anyone.

I have the five year IUD. I love it so much! The first five or six months sucked cuz your body is adjusting to it but wait it out. The reward is some people don't even have periods with this IUD. I have had it move on me and the Dr had to adjust it but it was worth it. Taking the pill everyday was not a pay off for me, I got pregnant on it. Haven't had that problem with the IUD and I've had it for two years. Go for it !!

i have had an iud for 3 yrs it caused cysts whith ruptured and were very painful and a very bad infection in my tubes and ovaries....i definately do not suggest the mirena iud

i have been on it for about over a year, and *knock on wood* i havent had a problem with it, except for the first 6 months its really bothersom cause ur body is getting use to it, but i like it, its the only birth control that i have taken that i havent gotten pregnant on..just try it and see if you like it.

i have the mirena and i love it!!! i havent had a period and i have had it for 7 months..... as far as the period goes i think it depends on how much you weigh(thats what my dr said)

As far as how well they work IUD's are a reliable choice. The downside is risk of PID and infection. You should understand HOW an IUD works as well. There are two main kinds. with hormones..and without hormones. The one without hormones does not stop the egg and sperm from meeting.It prevents an already fertilized egg from implanting. My Dr. never told me this and I was furious. My meant I had to have it removed immediately upon finding that out. I was young and dumb at the time. I suggest everyone knows HOW their BC works so they can choose wisely.

I discussed the Mirena IUD with my OBGYN and I am still interested in getting it, but I was told that my insurance does not cover it and it is rather expensive. On the other hand, having another baby would be very expensive as well. From what I've heard, it is VERY effective, the side effects go away after the first 4-6 months and most women like it.

I have the mirena, i got it after my 3rd an di was sure, that if for some reason i couldnt have kids again""possibility"" like any birth control, that this was the correct choice. I have had it for 2 yeasr 1st year sucked, spotted, and always itchy, but no infection. but i dontever have to worry about forgetting, or preparing. keeps my skin clear, and if you ever change your mind, you can have it taken out. Note"" it does hurt when they insert it at that moment, but you walk out normal, just a bad cramp, at the moment..good luck, you have enough things to worry about, pill is one less..
