What's normal in pregnancy? How do I know if I'm having complications?

I recently took two home pregnancy tests and both were positive. I've already contacted my doctor but have to wait a week until I can see her. I'm concerned that the minor cramping (more like pressure) and small amount of discharge may be signs of problems with the pregnancy. Is it normal to be pregnant and feel like your starting your period? Any advise would be appreciated.

  • well when you're pregnant your body changes, and is growing and stretching to make room for baby, so little cramps are OK, discharge is normal as long as you're not bleeding with overwhelming pain. write down everything that you are experiencing so when you do see your doctor you can tell him/her your concerns, but you should be fine until then, try not to stress to much. congrats.

  • Everything you've described is normal. Your hormones are already starting to build. Your uterus and the surrounding ligaments are already starting to "soften" so that they can get ready to stretch to make room. Discharge, a little spotting, a little cramping, and about a million other symptoms are totally normal. You should join an informational website, like www.babycenter.com, to use as a resource for when you have questions. Congrats on your pregnancy!!

  • everyone is diff and every preg is different. i had discharge, cramping, even bled during the first trimester. my babe is almost a year and perfectly happy. if you are really concerned, tell the doc you need an earlier appt. if they blow you off, you probably want to choose a diff doc.

  • Well I just found out last Wednesday that I'm expecting. I just had a miscarriage in Sept. 09. I have been feeling craps and I have been worring that I might be having another miscarriage. I have 2 other children. I'm just trying to be possitive about things and praying that everything is ok. I don't get to see the doctor till Thursday morning. Have had 2 labs done already and have another 1 tomorrow.
