Should I serve alcohol to adults at a first birthday party?

my family are drinker, and so is my husbands. Not big drinkers but like to have a few socially. Do you think it is ok to get some beer for my DS first birthday? I think that if it is socially it is fine.

  • LMAO! In your question it sounds like you are asking if it's cool to get your son a beer for his first birthday lololol. I know that's not what you meant. I think it's ok for a few people to have a few beers because well, your son wouldn't know anyways. He won't even know he is having a party so it's mainly a way for you all to celebrate him turning a year old. Now if you were all getting hammered, no that's so not cool. But a few beers is fine, imo.

  • I would say no it's suppose to be your sons day not the adults day to have fun and drink. The on the other hand if the kids are sleeping and in bed for the night and you want to drink with people there then I would. But not during you son's day.

  • i always have the rule 'no alcohol at my children's birthday party'. I feel that that is their day, not mine. I will gladly go out or have alcohol if I have a party for me, but not at my child's birthday party.

  • I don't think it is right, it is supposed to be your baby's day if they realize it or not. My in-laws are social drinkers but not at my baby's party they won't be. I enjoy drinking but this day isn't for drinking, it is for celebrating your baby's 1st year the way babies can. It is your decision but I would say no if it were my child.

  • I did the same thing for his baptism. As my son gets older there will not be any alcohol, but at this age, he doesnt know and its all close family and friends. Its not going to turn into a keg party or nothing. I personally dont even drink, nor does my husband, but our family does and they are adults and can handle themselves to just have a few beers. Its not like im providing liquor and stuff.
