Do you have any tips for getting through baby's first haircut?

I took my son to a kid haircut place...the chair was a taxi with a steering wheel and they had tv's with movies at every station. He didn't even bat an eye.

i took my son for his first hair cut he hated it, squirmed the whole time but the 2nd cut my hubby took him and he came back with a very nice hair cut, DH said it was only cause i was there and my son is different with me then he is with dad so maybe another person could take ur child for the 2nd cut if they squirm the first time GL

I agree with alabasterpixie. I would find a kid-friendly salon and take your son there. I was worried when my son got his first haircut at 11 months cause he's a really wriggly kid but the place I took him to had a turtle as a chair and there was a tv with barney playing in front of him. My son stayed quiet the whole time and barely even moved. Another plus with taking them to a kid friendly place is that the stylist is used to dealing with children which can make all the difference.

Being as there are nno kiddie places for hair cuts around where I live (the only one closed down a few months before I decided to get my sons first haircut), I just had him sit in my lap while they cut his hair. At one point he wanted to sit facing me, which actually worked out fine because it made it easy to get the back of his hair... They eve gave him a certificate for his first hair cut and put a lock of his hair in a baggy for me... he looked like such a big boy afterward...
