Can you have sex when you have your period?

i personally think it's disguisting and so does my hubby he waits patiently for that week to go by but i was talking to a friend and this topic got brought up and she says they have sex all the time when she's on her period they just put a towel down and go at it. so i was wondering how many moms auctually have sex when they are bleeding?

  • Has no one here ever heard of Instead??? It is a small cup that you insert instead of a tampon to catch the blood. Clean and easy sex.

  • We do. And it's good. He doesn't finger me or go down on me obviously but we still have some good sex and I still orgasm. It's whatever. If the time comes when we want to get down, we aren't waiting.

  • Nope. Sorry. I'm always miserable during that week, and feel so unsexy, I barely want my husband to kiss me. The rest of the time, we can hardly keep our hands off each other, but that week just creeps me out on many levels.

  • When I was younger and only dating, no I didn't. Wasn't going to go to all that trouble in a car...LOL! Although I don't have any harsh words for those who choose not to, yeah, I do and I'm not embarrassed to say it. I've been married 10 years so there are no secrets or embarrasments between us. I don't see the big deal. I'm not taking a week off just because of a little blood. It washes off, just like the other "stuff" that comes from having sex. First, I don't bleed like a stuck pig, so there is no soaking of sheets or towel to be put down. But if you have a heavy flow, its a good idea. There is barely anything there afterward for me. It actually helps with cramps, because of the rush of endorphins (happy feelings). Second, I think there is nothing "nasty" about having sex with your husband. Its pretty crappy to down someone for their choices that don't match your own, BTW.

  • Did you know that you actually stop bleeding during the time that you are having sex while on your period? You will start bleeding right after but during the actual act, you are not bleeding.

  • Oh this is a great question !!! I use to feel really such embaressment when I was on my period and sex was involved . Truth be told .... I have the most intense orgasms at that time ! My boyfriend and I have a very open relationship/sex life . Sometimes the towel doesn't even enter the picture . Yes that I will admit is gross .
Really in my opinion it just depends on your comfort level . As I said I use to have a problem with it . My boyfriend does not express any disgust or dissapointment when I am on my period .
May I sugesst if you are feeling ashamed maybe going into the shower , looking the other way ?
I suppose when it really boils down to it we as women need to focus on what makes us comfortable and happy .
Wow ! After reading other women respond I can't help but laugh !! To each there own , but hey ladies , towels and sheets can be washed !

  • really it feels a lot better bc you're really tender when you're cycling (or i am at least) lol. maybe TMI but hey you don't need lube!!! HAHA there's not a thing wrong with it, and who the heck can go a week without sex? (aside from being pregnant). but that is just my own opinion. i never would have tried but my hubby talked me into it once and we've done it ever since. he wears a condom so he don't get bloody or we go to the shower :P
