What are some good ideas for a second grade Halloween class party?

We have about 1 1/2 hours for an in-classroom party for the kids and we need to do the planning now. Any fun games, crafts, snacks, activities to share? They are in 2nd grade.

  • You can try checking out Family Fun Magazine. I know they have a website too but, I am not sure what the right address is for them. I just got my copy the other day and they had some cute little "bones" made out of bread dough (pretzels) for a snack and other ideas. Dirt cake is also a good idea....look for the recipe online. Make it look like a graveyard in a cake pan and use those Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies for grave stones and write RIP on them and the ghost "peeps" as decoration with gummy worms coming out to the dirt......
Games....you could do a Pinata or musical chairs and play scary music or "monster Mash" song . They had cute crafts in the family fun magazine too. Paint a small pumpkin black and add googly eyes and wings out of construction paper or foam with black electrical tape....very cute.

  • One of my favorite games is Hot Potato, the fun way. You stuff a plastic pumpkin or other Halloween container full of treats. Have the kids sit in a circle. Play fun music, and have the kids pass the container around. When the music stops, the child who's holding it, opens it up, takes out a treat, and gets out of the circle. Play continues until one child ends up with the container. He gets the treats that are leftover, plus the container itself. They love it!

  • get toilet paper, make small groups, tell them to choose a member to be the "mummy" set a timer and give them 10 min to wrap the child. award the best group. you can also make a pin the tail on game for anything can the be the stem of a pumpkin can be the witch's broom brush. but the game takes a long time with the blindfold and spinning and everyone get a turn,,,, have fun!!!!!!
