Should I get a flu shot for my baby?

I would like to know your thoughts on the flu shot for babies. My son is 9 months and I'm undecided on getting him the flu shot. My husband who gets them, used to get sick everytime he got one. I"m nervous to let my son have one. Wouldn't he have the flu symptoms?

  • Both my preemies have gotten them and they have done fine. Neither of them have had any side effects from shots. Connor got his first one at about 6 months old (4 months adjusted age). It's not BS to want to protect your children. Giving or not giving any shot is a personal decision that only you can make. I've seen both my kids stop breathing (one due to his underdeveloped lungs and the other due to RSV) so I feel it's in my childrens best interest to have them. Most doctors will strongly recommend them if your child is in day care or does play dates or other activities where they are around other children. Actually, everyone how lives in our house gets one every year as a way to help protect the kids. I got a nasty cold after my first 2, but have had no problems since.

  • We do not vaccinate for anything but I am strongly against the flu shot more than the others... It's a waist! You are injecting you kids with needless chemicals to protect them? That doesn't really make sense... Most decent scientists or doctors will tell you that it's healthier to get the flu than to get the vaccine... Your immune system will develop faster and stronger if it is actually faced with disease once in a while... Besides the Flu vaccine only protects against a minor amount of flu strands out their...

And to the lady who's parents get the vaccine... Your parents aren't 9 months old!

  • You know, they say that you should not get the Flu shot if you are allergic to eggs. Also, you are not supposed to give eggs to babies until they are a year old. Do you know if your baby is allergic to eggs or not? Probably not...
