How can I get more than six weeks of maternity leave?

I have vacation that i can use, but I want more than 6 weeks automatically.

  • Try the Family Medical Leave Act. It worked for me but you don't get paided for that.

  • I know of women who have had there maternity leave extended because they said they were very emotional and sad about leaving there newborns and the doctors gave them extra time, i guess under PPD.

  • under the fmla you are aloud 12 weeks of maternity and if you have short term disability you can get paid for six weeks of that but no more. you can look it up but i used it twice now i took 8weeks for my son and now im taking 10 for my daughter.

  • If you have benefits through your work, the fMLA will extend those benefits for up to 12 weeks.

  • I got 8 weeks because I had a C-section and then I took an extra week unpaid under FMLA. In the UK they get a year too. Unfair isn't it!
