Have you had lap band surgery?

I have not but the lap band is a great alternative to Gastric Bypass. It has less side effects and can be adjusted when needed unlike gastric surgery. Best wishes.

Personally no experience with it. Did have a friend of ours do it though. He losts lots of wieght over a year and looked good. Though I don't know how he managed his diet or what he ate or anything. But he looks great.

My dad went to several informational meetings and decided that he was just trading his eating problem for another problem with all the dietary restrictions for the lap band. He and I still struggle with our weight but we feel that is easier than having to give up all the things necessary to follow the lap band rules for eating and drinking. Good luck in whatever you choose.

I haven't but I use a product that does the same thing only it is a capsule you take before you eat. Just like the lap band which makes your stomach smaller so you eat less, the product I take absorbs water and fills your stomach up 20-25% with a jello-like substance so you can't eat as much and you still feel full. This has no side effects, no drugs, no stimulants and is pretty inexpensive, pm me for info. It would be a good thing to consider and try before you go get surgery, I lost 7 lbs my first week with it.

I just had the lap banding procedure this past Tuesday. I am doing well. This is a safer version of weight loss vs the gastric bypass. Less side effects, more healthy due to the face your body still can break down the food you eat thru the stomach, verses the gastric by pass which totally goes around the stomach.

I am moving around much better. I lost 10 lbs just on the pre-op diet, but heck when all you have is liquids and popcicles, i guess its what you can expect. hehe

was at my doctor's office today for pre-op lap band visit and saw a friend that i had met in meetings and he had the lap band two weeks ago and lost 27lbs already. my surgery is scheduled for april 29th and am looking forward to the procedure

i am planning on lap band surgery on april 29th. i am 63 yrs young and have a lot of time left to be with my children and grandchildren. i have attended seminars and classes and heard lots of success stories. i know it depends on how self motivated you are and how determined you are to have a better life style. my daughter is my support and coach. you must exercise (at least i do) and eat as they tell you. i went out yesterday and got some of the vitamins and protein products they suggessted we have on hand, so i am ready. i got i protein drink from kelloggs (tropical blend) very tasty) and not very expensive. any questions just ask

I have not personally had the sugery, but I have several friends and sister in lwas how have had it. There is a times of adjustement to the ammount of food you can eat at one time. But, what all of them have told me is they have trouble absorbing vitamins and minerals from their food.
