  • I always put vasaline on cradle cap. Don't worry. It's normal and will eventually go away.

  • No need to worry. It's totally harmless (just not the prettiest thing to look at!) I rub on a little olive oil, brush the scalp gently with a baby brush and then shampoo. Not overoing on the hair washing also seems to help( maybe shampoo baby 3 times a week)

  • If it were me, when I bathe the baby I would use baby shampoo. I would use a SOFT bristle toothbrush and gently wash the baby's head.. I don't think its a very big deal.. There are far more worse things babies could get than cradle cap.. Good luck!!

  • It's not dangerous, just cosmetic. Don't stress, hun! Just wash it like these ladies said. It will eventually go away on its own.

  • brushing is a good idea but be sure you don't brush too often or too hard. You don't want to irratate the spot.

  • My pedi told us to just use baby oil on it before his bath and then gently brush it. It is nothing to be worried about, it will go away eventually :)

  • Put baby oil on, and brush off the flakes with a baby brush. Also, don't shampoo at all, until the cradle cap is gone. Just wash your baby's hair with warm water. Shampoo makes it worse.

  • Not shampoo at all? Are you kidding me? Some kids (me neighbor for example) have cradle cap for over a year...I am sorry, lol, but not shampoo'ing is not going to help it go away. It is caused by an imbalance of hormones, and has nothing to do with shampoo...I actually agree with Beckysue22, It seems to get better if I shampoo more (around 3 or 4 times a week).

Anyways, same as JessTorres , my pediatrician said that if it gets really bad that I could use Selsen Blue on it until it goes away (but its not baby shampoo, so be really careful not to get it in their face).

But as far as it scaring you...don't worry! It is perfectly normal, and it will go away on its own. It will not hurt the baby, and in a worst case scenario, it may itch if it starts to get real bad.
