Is there any method of birth control that doesn't make you gain weight?

  • Since birth control effects your hormones, some women gain weight. Others don't. The same can be said for more/less acne or energy, changes in mood or appetite, etc. Everyone's body is different, so it's really a matter of the birth control~user combo.

  • It is the change in your hormones which causes the weight gain. Any B/c that does not cause weight gain? Condoms! LOL

  • idk the exact medical reason as to why it makes you gain weight, however i think that it sucks equally as much as you do. I have mirena iuc and i haven't gained any weight with it.

  • NFP is an option if you don't want to do condoms.... It's NOT THE rhythm method... and when practise correctly it is effective as any BC.... It just requires self-discipline on BOTH partners. If you want I can give you more info, just PM me or Google it.

  • I do not gain weight with bc. I use the Nuva Ring now and did not gain from it. This is a myth that has been disproved.

  • Get a non hormonal birth control. There are non horomonal versions of almost all kinds. The only other thing I would say to try is to try a condom...that won't make ya gain weight...LOL. I have the IUD and have had no problems with weight gain though.

  • i am using a pill called YAZ and i havent gained any weight and it helps wit cramps a lil and i have taken it for almost a year now

  • Weight gain is only one of a whole list of side affects you can encounter when manipulating your hormones with birth control pills. NFP is a great option. www.tcoyf.com has some more information along with a book and software you can use. Also there are several forums here at cafemom like NFP Moms where you can find out more information.
