At how many weeks do they perform the first ultrasound?

that depends on a lot. First it depends on your insurance company i know a lot only do one ultrasound around 20 weeks for a normal pregnancy. ANother factor is if its a high risk pregnancy and what the risk is.

Personally with my daughter i think i had like seven ultrasounds. Because im heavy set they had a hard time hearing the heartbeat using a doppler early on, so they used an ultrasound machine. And then i had my normal ultrasound where they said they didnt get enough pics of the heart, so i got another one.then i was measuring large and i had ultrasounds to check the size of my baby..turns out i was just having a large baby. :)

This time around ive had like three. One to see if the baby was okay while having spotting, one just because, and then the third was my gender determination and all the measurments at 18weeks.

It really depends on the Dr. and if you have a good idea of when your last period was. If the dr needs a better idea of your due date then he will schedule it ASAP. If you have a good idea of when it was then it probably wont be until between 20 and 24 weeks.

I was told that only one was available at 20 weeks to check anatomy. They would give you one earlier than that to date the pregnancy, but that was only offered if you were unsure of when you had your last period.

They'll usually do an ultrasound around 8 weeks, but some doctors only do the 20 week ultrasound.

i had an ultrasound done at 8 weeks to make sure i was pregnant and not havin a false pregnancy then i had one today at 20 weeks to find out the sex

I had one at 10 weeks, 23 weeks and a 3-d one at 32 weeks.
