Are there hypoallergenic cats?

A hair-less cat!!! I believe they are dander free OR very LOW dander....but in my opinion they are ugly... My GF had one that was gray and the first time I saw it I screamed and put my feet up on her couch and told her a rat ran in here and is hiding under the bookshelf. Of course she laughed at me when she realized it was just her hair-less cat!!

unfortunately there isnt much that is dander free! It is not just fur, but dead skin as well. A Sphinx cat might be a good idea...or even try some allergy meds. I grew up with a dog, I got my first cat and started to work in a vet clinic at the same time. My allergies bothered me for about 2 months but then I seemed to have built up an immunity to it and have been fine since...of course that wont help everyone. Good Luck.

One more thing to think about. Most people who are allergic to cats are allergic to dark colored cats. I heard this on the news, yet it is something I had already noticed about my own cats. At the time, I had three and the buff colored one didn't bother me at all, whereas the other two would make me sneeze and my eyes itch and water if I didn't wash my hands immediately after petting them. So you might try a light colored cat with no dark on it. Also, my son and I take Clariton. It helps.
