How much weight did you gain in your first trimester?

Are you supposed to gain during the first trimester? If you are supposed to gain, ideally how much?? Thanks

  • the first time i went to the doctor, i was about 15 weeks along and i gained 12 lbs. they said that was fine and normal.

  • i didn't gain anything, I'm 16 weeks along and gained 3 lbs. They said thats fine.

  • I don't remember just how much I gained in my first trimester, but I gained 17 my whole pregnancy. It matters on how big you are before you get pregnant. I was a size 11 before pregnancy. I wore my regular jeans how from the hospital. Now I am a ilttle bigger and pregnant again. about a size 13 doc said to gain about the same amount of weight.

  • You're supposed to gain the bulk of your pregnancy weight in the last trimester, when it starts to be about a pound a week or more. During my first trimester, I actually lost weight, but that is fairly typical. It depends on your prepregnancy weight. If you're average weight, you need to gain a total of 25-35 pounds. If you're overweight, 15-25 pounds, underweight 28-40 pounds, obese no more than 15 pounds. I've read that you're supposed to gain only about 2-5 pounds during your first trimester, and a pound each week thereafter. See this article:

  • i didnt go to the doctor in my first trimester i went in my second and i dont remember how much i weighed at first. im 23 weeks tomorrow, and ive gained i think 15 pounds. you cant tell though, m legs are the same size, my face is, my arms are... im ALL stomach!

  • im 5 months and 2 weeks and ive only gained 2 pounds and the doc said its ok as long as im still eating healthy

  • I lost weight during my first trimester. I'm 30 weeks, and according to my doctor I've only gained four pounds past my starting weight. Go meee! (I'm overweight to begin with though :P)

  • I had lost 20 pounds in the first trimester and I am in the second trimester and have gained only 10 pounds back.
