  • Yes, also they can then get home sooner. I am a nurse aide and have worked with nurses that have said the exact same thing when they worked with obgyns. No one can say they didnt do everything to get the baby out either.

  • Well my last OBGYN forced me to have another c-section instead of a VBAC; saying that he would refuse to be my doctor if I didn't agree to a c-section. The birth is about $10,000 more for a c-section; and the hospital sees most of that... But either way it was definitely more for him as well. Now I am practically stuck with another c-section as the chances to hemorrhage are far greater now that I have already had 2 :(

  • How can they force you? Couldn't you have seen a different doctor? Unless they though it was for your own benefit, like if you already had a c section and they thought you wouldn't do well with vaginal due to the previous c section?

  • yep, they sssooo do. i was attempting a vbac for my daughter, and the doctor on call refused to induce me after 6 hours of labor and started making plans for my c-section...it was only 6 hours of labor! most women go longer than that!

  • Where I use to live the hospital would not allow you to have a vaginal birth if you have ever had a c-section. My older sister had no choice to have her second one as a c-section.

  • you wanna hear my messed up story.... They turned my epidural off so i could feel EVERYTHING and i was in so much pain. They said supposably i wasn't feeling everything i should have in order to push but i had the tip of the head showing... hmmm. Anyways then after i told him i wanted to keep trying to push even witht the pain, he told me that the head was pressing up against my pelvic bone and it was making his head swell and that was all we were seeing. Then he told me if i kept trying that his shoulder might break. Now i dont know if all this was true but when he came out after the c section he had no cone shaped head and he was only 7.9 and 20 inches. i feel that they just wanted me to get the c sec. what do you ppl think?

  • I just think that we as in the U.S. have put docs on such a pedestal that they want to be in control of everything. When I had a miscarriage, my doc told me that I had to do this and I had to do that, well, sorry, but I am in control of my helathcare, you are just here to help me. Not be my boss.
